With Atletico Madrid forward Diego Costa supposedly jumpng ship at the end of the season, the same reports are suggesting Arsenal’s Olivier Giroud will be his replacement. Here are three reasons why Arsenal should keep hold of the France international.
1) Goals
Last season was a busy one for Giroud, but he had the likes of Theo Walcott and Lukas Podolski to help him out. He scored 17 goals in 47 outings last time out, and has a slightly better record this time.
In his 46 games he has scored 20 goals, 14 of which have come in the Premier League.
Even if he isn’t considered the Gunners’ number one next term, those numbers suggest he should be kept on.
2) Creative
As well as scoring, Giroud can also create opportunities for his attacking colleagues. Though with the aforementioned duo of Walcott and Podolski missing large chunks of the season, as well as Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Tomas Rosicky, he has been restricted somewhat.
In his 33 league appearances, he has notched seven assists and averaged a key pass per game.
3) Improving
He may not be the quickest in the Arsenal set up, but he is improving each season and I think it would be silly to get rid of him in the summer.
His return of 37 goals in 92 games for the north London side is quite impressive, and I think it will get stronger.
