Real Madrid Goalkeeper Iker Casillas has indirectly revealed that he might move to a different club. Casillas, who has spent the last 15 years at Bernabeu, said, “I can understand that people are tired of my face because I’ve been here for 15 years. But this is my own doing.

“I’ve taken a small place in the history of Madrid.”

Real Madrid signed Keylor Navas from Levante this season and he is expected to be the long term replacement for Casillas who hasn’t been in the best of form for the last few years. Liverpool were linked with a move for the 33-year old in case Victor Valdes fails to prove his fitness.

Arsenal were linked with Casillas in July but signed David Ospina instead which has opened the door for Liverpool. Brendan Rodgers will have to strengthen the goalkeeping department as Simon Mignolet has been in bad form off late as his mistakes have cost Liverpool. Mignolet is an excellent shot stopper but his distribution and decision making in set pieces has been woeful. Liverpool were linked with Argentine goalkeeper Sergio Romero in the summer but a move failed to materialize.

Former manager Jose Mourinho was the 1st one to drop Casillas in a long time after signing Diego Lopez. Since then, the Spaniard has not featured regularly for the side. Carlo Ancelotti used him in the Cup competitions last season and he put in good performances which were vindicated by Real winning the Copa Del Rey and the UEFA Champions League.

Casillas has played in 11 games in all competitions for Madrid this season and has conceded 12 goals. Despite the number of appearances, there is a growing belief that he’ll soon be replaced by Navas eventually who has signed a contract until 2020.

‘Saint’ Iker started his career in the Real Madrid youth team and was promoted to the Real Madrid C and Real Madrid Castilla in the span of one year. He made his debut in 1999 at the age of 18.
