Transfer Blow For Arsenal And Manchester United: World Cup Winning Winger To Stay In Germany

Julian Draxler To Stay With Schalke

The Premier League giants have been working hard to add more talent to their squads in January. Many players have been scouted by these teams, over the past few months with a view to increase the bench strength of their already formidable squads. At the moment, two of the top teams in the Premier League are in the race for another World Cup winner and this time it is Schalke’s star winger Julian Draxler. Arsenal and Manchester United are believed to be in a two-way race to sign the 21 year old who is currently one of the hottest talents in world football.

Schalke chief Clemens Tonnies on the other hand has dismissed any reports that the player is leaving the club. As a matter of fact, Tonnies has warned the big Premier League sides saying that the player is going nowhere. Draxler’s current contract contains a £37m buy-out clause, so any team interested in the player would have to make a bid keeping that in mind.

Tonnies  had this to say to the Sport Bild in an interview about his German international winger“We have absolutely no thoughts about him leaving on short notice. Schalke is the place where he can develop best and I told him that in person. My opinion is also, that Julian has developed greatly, especially regarding his personality. He had a setback with his injury and, as with every big player at a young age, he had a weaker period. But Julian will have a fantastic career.”

Based on this, it is clear that the club has no intention of letting him go easy. Depending on how desperate these big guns for signing such an amazing young talent, further talks may take place, as the transfer window remains open.
