Arsene Wenger has now revealed some surprise news about the injuries to some of his major players at his recent press conference, confirming that England international Jack Wilshere has undergone minor ankle surgery. The Arsenal boss explained that the 23 year old Wilshere’s persistent ankle problems had become such a major hurdle to his fitness that they decided to go ahead with the surgery which had originally been planned for the end of the season.
Wenger when asked more details, further added that Wilshere simply had ‘the buttons’ removed from his ankle as they had become so irritating, that it was causing him major fitness issues. The Frenchman also said that his midfield superstar will only need a short recovery period, without specifying the time duration exactly. These words would give the fans a bit on encouragement, after Arsenal put in a horrific performance against Monaco on Wednesday evening and face Premier League rivals Everton on Sunday.
