Over the past few days, Arsenal fans have been criticizing Mesut Ozil for his lack of work ethic and his inability to show the kind of form that made the Gunners spend £42m to acquire his signature last term. Having said that though, manager Arsene Wenger has laughably used the German on the wings instead of the player’s preferred number 10 ten role.
Despite what seemed a great honeymoon following his move from the Spanish capital, the German hasn’t been able to live up to his expectations. The Marriage certainly seems to be on the rocks.
After getting a point against premier League Champions Manchester City last weekend, Arsenal were comprehensively beaten by Borussia Dortmund by 2-0 in the first match day of the Champions league and Ozil’s inability to revive Arsenal’s fortunes and the play maker was substituted after just 62 minutes. However Ozil covered the most ground per minute according to stats.

So is it an unfair judgement of how Ozil featured in midweek?
