The summer was a manic one for Arsenal – the Gunners secured a record deal for Real Madrid playmaker Mesut Ozil and in turn have reaped the rewards. They have sat top of the Premier League for the majority of the season, and although they are now a point behind Chelsea they have the chance to jump above them in the remainder of the season. The January transfer window was a little quieter for the north London club, but one name that kept cropping up was Julian Draxler.

When Manchester United confirmed that Wilfried Zaha would join the club this season there were a few murmurs, but on the whole United fans were pleased. Then when he led Crystal Palace to the Premier League the United faithful were excited, but still, that was only the Championship wasn’t it?

Jose Mourinho likes what he sees with Chelsea winger Eden Hazard, and so do the supporters. When the Portuguese boss arrived at the club in the summer Hazard was a top-class playmaker, but with a little bit of Mourino magic the little Belgian is lighting up the Premier League with some sensational performances, and according to the Mirror the former Real Madrid boss is keen to give Eden’s little brother Thorgen a chance in the Premier League next season.

With rumours floating about regarding Rio Ferdinand and his retirement from the game, it was left up to David Moyes to come out and clear the air. He has now done that, as the Metro report the former Everton boss has rubbished the speculation. So, with Moyes hinting that Ferdinand will stay beyond the summer, despite his contract expiring at the end of the season, I got thinking whether or not he should be staying at Old Trafford.

With Chelsea dropping points to West Brom the evening before and Manchester City’s game with Sunderland being called off due to the weather, Liverpool had a chance to gain some ground on those situated in the top four and more importantly secure their place in it. Arsenal also dropped points at home to Manchester United, although Brendan Rodgers’ men will not have known that at the time, and Liverpool pounced on that with a 3-2 away win at Fulham.

Bayern Munich are the form side in the whole of Europe right now in terms of major trophies won. Last season they steamrolled over pretty much everything that came in their way and at the end they had five trophies to their name – the Super Cup, the Club World Cup, the Bundesliga, the German Cup and the Champions League.

When Mesut Ozil arrived at the Emirates in the summer it instantly transformed the Gunners into title contenders in my eyes. The Germany international was one of the most efficient playmakers in Europe last season and it was a real coup when Arsene Wenger brought him into the club, and he was quick to show why Gooners were so excited to see him come into the club.
