RUMOUR MILL: Liverpool Preparing An Ambitious Bid For This Belgian Beast Striker

Liverpool are now set to make an ambitious summer bid for Belgian international Christian Benteke, according to recent reports. The superstar striker has been superb since joining Aston Villa in 2012 from Genk and has made a total of 88 appearances for the club, scoring 42 times.

Kop boss Brendan Rodgers is in need more attacking options after Liverpool’s strike force has failed miserably this season. Stars like Mario Balotelli and Ricky Lambert have failed to make any sort of impression since moving to Anfield.

Apart from that, England international Daniel Sturridge has also been out with injury problems for most of the season. The Reds are in need of at least one new forward this summer with Benteke is being considered as the perfect choice.

The Mirror further stated that the Premier League outfit will offer Villa, their flop striker Lambert and plus some cash to land the £30m-rated Benteke. If a deal does indeed go through, he could be a really good signing for the Merseyside club.

MASSIVE NEWS For Arsenal And Chelsea: Ex-Liverpool Defender Hints Sterling Exit

Ex-Liverpool defender and assistant manager Phil Thompson has now said that England international Raheem Sterling could leave Anfield in the summer. The 20m year old winger is showing ‘all the signs that he’s ready to leave the club’, as stated by the former Red. Thompson further believes the fact that Brendan Rodgers’ side failed to qualify for the Champions League for next season might push Sterling to an exit, at the end of the current campaign.

Premier League rivals Arsenal and Chelsea will be in the hunt for the 20-year-old. The Englishman confirmed his decision of turning down a new £90,000-a-week contract during an interview with BBC Sport and this could instigate an away move.

Thompson told the media“I think it will be very difficult for him to stay at Liverpool now. He’s shown all the signs that he’s ready and prepared to leave the club.”

“But if he was to stay I would like to think his role will be on the flanks – I don’t think Liverpool can even contemplate him being their main striker next season, because he’s not a natural goalscorer.”

“Liverpool need somebody who’s going to get you at least 15 league goals and maybe 25 overall – Raheem Sterling is not going to get you that.”

“He’s done well for the team – he’s helped them out up front this season, but I think everyone can see that he’s not quite strong enough for it.”

“So, no matter where he is next season, I think his best role is out wide rather than through the middle.”

Liverpool Blog: Can Raheem Sterling And Jordon Ibe Take The Reds To The Next Level?

Liverpool Football Club have had a torrid season this time around and it’s been one that Reds fans all over the world have had to endure rather than enjoy. While the last season saw us reach the dizzy heights of second place and some scintillating team performances saw us smash 101 goals over a span of 38 games, this season sees us limping towards the finish line with absolutely nothing to brag about. If we were to really dissect our team’s performances this season and look for a positive, then the only thing that we can brag about has to be the form of Raheem Sterling and Jordon Ibe.

These two youngsters have given us some reason to watch Liverpool play even though we have not had much to play for since god only knows when. Sterling and Ibe have been like a breath of fresh air in an otherwise damp room. Sterling is of course, not a new name for anyone even mildly interested in the world of football. The young Englishman has been around at the top level for almost three years now, which itself is a marvelous achievement when you go on to consider the fact that he is just 20 years old.

The diminutive winger has enjoyed a fantastic season once again with Liverpool after notching up 11 goals and 10 assists in all competitions this season. To put that into contrast, the winger notched up 11 goals and 12 assists in all competitions last season, where he had the likes of Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge alongside him. To pull off the same numbers without having similar support is a fantastic feat and one that has led to him being billed as the best player in Liverpool right now.

Jordon Ibe on the other hand is a relatively new name to fans of football whose primary love interest is not Liverpool. The number 33 has been a familiar name for Liverpool fans for a long while now thanks to his peerless presence in the reserve team, but this season has seen him breakthrough on the biggest stage of them all.

The winger first broke out onto the club football scene with Derby County this season after being loaned out to the Championship side by the Reds at the start of the season. He made a terrific impact for the Rams and he was easily one of the brightest sparks of their team. Ibe scored a total of five goals and created two over 24 games for Derby County which propelled them towards a strong promotion fight.

In fact, his performances were so good, that Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers sat up and took notice of the youngster midway through the season and decided to call him back to Merseyside. This sudden recall of Jordon Ibe by the Reds is seen as the primary reason behind Derby County’s ultimately failed promotion push and their fans still feel hard done by. This single fact goes onto show exactly how big a figure Ibe had become in his short time at Pride Park.

Liverpool are definitely lucky to have these two gifted individuals amongst their ranks, but the question that needs to be asked is this. Can Ibe and Sterling take Liverpool to the next level? The answer, in my opinion, is a simple no. The reasons behind this are pretty simple.

First and foremost, I do not see Raheem Sterling at our club next season.

The writing is already on the wall as far as this matter is concerned and the fact that he has not yet signed the new contract which is being offered to him is proof enough that he has not the least bit interest of staying at Anfield. And honestly, who would be interested to stay at a club that is mired in the middle of the table? His brilliant performances have made some of Europe’s big guns sit up and mobilize their diplomats for his signature, and I feel that he will end up at a Real Madrid or a Bayern Munich at the beginning of the next campaign.

Jordon Ibe may not be heading out of Anfield any time soon but his performances alone are not enough to elevate us into the Premier League’s top four.  No matter how much potential he may have, what we fans need to keep in mind is that he is only 19 years old. And before you begin to argue that this does not matter as Raheem Sterling managed to have an impact on our side when he was this age, I would urge you to take a closer look and notice that Ibe and Sterling at the ages of 19, were nowhere close to each other. While one was setting Premier League pitches on fire, the other just got recalled from a loan spell in the second division.

Overall, I think that we should definitely be happy that we have two such talented, young gems at our club, but it would be absurd to think that these lads are enough to take us one step further.

Arsenal Preparing A SENSATIONAL Bid To Sign Manchester United And Liverpool Target

Arsenal are now preparing a £22m bid to bring Barcelona forward Pedro to the Emirates, according to recent reports. The Gunners are keen on adding more reinforcements to their squad and will look to sign the Spanish international to their squad. The Metro claimed that the Catalan giants might look to cash in on Pedro and are prepared to listen to offers.

The 27-year-old has not had much playing time as current manager Luis Enrique prefers the trio of Suarez, Neymar and Messi up front. The Spaniard has been given just 13 starts in the La Liga this season and is all set for an exit in the summer. Apart from the north London side, their Premier League rivals Liverpool and Manchester United are also keeping tabs on Pedro.

It is believed that a bid of around £20m will be need to persuade the La Liga outfit to let him go. If indeed the move goes through, the superstar forward could be reuniting with his former team-mate Alexis Sanchez, who joined Arsenal last summer.

SHOCK! Fernando Torres: “Gerrard Pushed Me Towards Chelsea Move”

This may come as a shock to many, but Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard had a crucial role in helping Fernando Torres make the move to Chelsea, the Spanish striker has now revealed. The 31-year-old striker had scored 65 goals in 102 Premier League appearances for Liverpool, before leaving Anfield for The Blues in a £50m deal in the Janaury transfer window in 2011. Though Torres could not replicate his spectacular form once again at Stamford Bridge, he was grateful to Gerrard for the advice.

The striker is with La Liga champions Atletico Madrid on loan from AC Milan and told AS in an interview,

“Gerrard changed my career, my ambition, the way of raising my goals, the way of wanting to win. He changed everything.”

“Gerrard talked a lot with me and even when I said that I was leaving Liverpool, he said: ‘Think about yourself. Do what’s best for you because you have seen how people are leaving and it’s time. You have nothing to prove.'”

“He changed my way of seeing things and showed me that I could get much higher than what I had always thought. I will never find a teammate like him, I am sure.”

Top Five U-21 Players In Premier League: Featuring Chelsea And Everton Stars

Five of the under-21 players who have been impressive in the Premier League this season, and have been keeping established, big-name players out of the first-team at their cost.

1. Harry Kane

A North Londoner by birth, Harry Kane has broken into the Premier League by storm. He was one of the fringe players in Tottenham’s reserves and was on the verge of being axed from the club, but was given a chance last season by Tim Sherwood. He has taken advantage of the chance he has been given, after indifferent performances by Roberto Soldado and Emmanuel Adebayor. He has got 20 goals in 29 matches and has firmly established himself as one of England’s best young talent. He runs all over the pitch to get the ball and shoot it past the opposition as often as possible. He is a total striker with versatile skill sets.

SENSATIONAL! Liverpool Look To Seal A Shock Deal For This Manchester United Superstar

Recent reports are suggesting that Columbian international Radamel Falcao’s agent is at present in talks with Premier League side Liverpool. The superstar striker is at present on loan Manchester United till the end of the current campaign.

The 29 year old moved from Ligue 1 outfit Monaco to Old Trafford last summer and has failed to make any major impact to earn a permanent deal. Manager Louis van Gaal barely plays the forward and would not be interested in spending a huge sum of £43m to sign him on a permanent basis.

Reports in Spain further state that the Dutchman has told Monaco that the striker will be returning back to France, once the current season is over. Falcao’s agent Jorge Mendes is however looking to set up a deal which would see him make the move to Anfield, before the start of the next season. Since his move to the Premier League, the former Atletico Madrid superstar has made 22 appearances for the Red Devils and has managed to score just four times.

Andriy Yarmolenko – The Right Winger For Chelsea?

Chelsea have been in search of a winger who can run tirelessly on the flanks, propelling the attack and running back to collect the ball. Eden Hazard has been a surety on the left wing, but the right wing has lacked the intensity to hold down an attack and defence over games. Willian has a high work-rate, but he moves with the ball, and he cannot take his place in the initiation of an attack on the right-wing if he delves deep to collect the ball. Andre Schurrle was too slow to drop back and surge forward with the ball, Victor Moses is not the finished product yet and Mohammed Salah lacked the stamina to play games continuously to Jose’s lofty standards. Juan Cuadrado was an investment in January which has not quite paid off, meaning that Chelsea are still in the market for a winger who can step in and complete an already strong Chelsea team.

Andriy Yarmolenko, from Dynamo Kiev, threw himself into the Premier League spotlight, with a performance that destroyed Everton in their Europa League round-of-16 match. Liverpool and Chelsea have been linked with the winger, but Chelsea hold an advantage as they will qualify for the Champions League next season, whereas Liverpool’s Champions League participation remains in doubt. Considering that Chelsea’s workload is not getting any lighter, players such as Yarmolenko could get extended runs in the Chelsea team next season, even though Mourinho has shown a tendency to use the same playing XI over the course of a season to keep the winning mentality. Yarmolenko has a return of a goal every three games in the Ukrainian leagues, throughout the course of his career so far. If he can keep up that record at Chelsea, he will be able to hold down a slot in Jose’s teams, if he can move forward with the ball and track back to win the ball, as and when required. He may not be strong in the air, but he makes up for it with his speedy take-ons in which he emerges successful more often than not.

True, he may be left-footed and may be better off as a left and centre-forward, but he has played mostly on the right flank for Dynamo Kiev this season. Andriy Yarmolenko may end up playing as an inverted winger, on the right, toying with opposition defenders. He has a high passing rate – above 75%, and a penchant for making key passes – he has eleven in nine Europa League games, and seven assists, meaning that he could be of great assistance to players such as Eden Hazard, Loic Remy and Diego Costa. If Didier Drogba chooses to retire next season, a player like Yarmolenko is a more than valuable replacement, to play among Chelsea’s talented forwards.

Would a fee of £19m be too much for a player of his potential? Chelsea have paid for players, who have not been given long enough runs in the team, and who have been sold for profits on most occasions. Yarmolenko remains untested in the Premier League and may take some time to adjust, which may be too much for Chelsea. Chelsea did pursue a Ukrainian player before – Andriy Shevchenko – in an ill-fated buy. There is reason to look forward to this purchase, as he will not be subject to high expectations, as he will not be an important part of the first-team – with established players such as Eden Hazard, Cesc Fabregas, Willian and Diego Costa holding down first-team places, which means that he may get the time to build himself up and adapt to the Premier League.
