Gonzalo Higuain to Arsenal?

According to the latest reports from Italy, Argentine international Gonzalo Higuain is once again being linked with a move to Arsenal. These reports also claim that Arsenal have made a sensational  €60m bid for the Napoli’s target man.

It looks like Higuain wants to leave Naples as his current club failed to qualify for the next season’s champions league. Now, the Gunners are the favorites to get his signature.

This news may come as a shock for Manchester United and Chelsea who are also strongly linked with a former Real Madrid star.

The catch here is, even €60m bid may not be enough to convince the Napoli management to sell their main man. They are adamant that they will not sell for anything less than the price mentioned in the player’s release clause.

“The club stresses that the Argentine has an existing contract clause of €94,736,000 [£67 million]. No bids below that figure will be accepted, those who want the player will have to match that valuation,” a statement from Napoli read, as quoted by the London Evening Standard.

Arsenal And Liverpool Boosted As €35 million Argentine Star Could Leave In Summer

Gonzalo Higuain

Premier League rivals Liverpool and Arsenal are all set to have a go in their pursuit of a striker as Napoli’s Argentine forward Gonzalo Higuain is on the verge of leaving Italy. According to talksport.com, the Argentina international will leave the Serie A side Napoli at the end of this season.

The Thursday edition of The Messenger, one of the popular Newspapers in Naples, had the headline “Higuain, Goodbye Italy” and anticipated his move out of Italy. This season the 27-year-old World Cup runner-up has scored only 12 goals from 20 league matches after hitting 17 in 32 in his debut campaign.

Napoli had paid €35 million for Higuain for a move from Real Madrid in July 2013 after they sold Uruguayan striker Edinson Cavani to Paris Saint- Germain. But Higuain has failed to match the expectations of the Italians. Now the Rafa Benetiz led side is looking for a striker who can score goals consistently. So, it is likely that the Argentine will move to England as Liverpool are still in search for a striker who is capable of filling the void left by Luis Suarez, who left to Barcelona at the start of this season. Liverpool are also waiting for their striker Daniel Sturridge, who is cursed with injury problems for a long time and is yet to return to the starting eleven. Their big signing this season, Mario Balotelli is going through a pale patch of form.

Apart from Liverpool, Arsenal will also go all out in signing the man, who was rumoured to have flew to London, agreed a deal and underwent a medical with the Gunners just to see him signing for Napoli in the 2013 summer window. Arsenal’s might have the likes of Olivier Giroud, Alexis Sanchez and Danny Welbeck, who are capable of playing up-front, but manager Arsene Wenger will splash the cash when he sees a bargain.

Agent Reveals Arsenal & Liverpool Target’s Future

Liverpool have been handed a blow in their chase of Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain as his agent revealed that Liverpool and Arsenal have not made any enquiries with the club.

Higuain’ form had deserted him before the game against Hellas Verona as he hadn’t scored in his side’s opening 7 games in the league. However, Higuain broke the goal drought in style as he netted a hat trick against Verona in Napoli’s 6-2 win on Sunday.

His agent and brother Nicolas Higuain commented on his brother’s form and any potential transfer move,  “I’m delighted that Gonzalo scored yesterday but I’ve never been concerned about his goal drought, and neither was my brother.

“Let’s say that he had a few chances to score yesterday. Luckily, he tried his best and it went well.

“The rumours about Arsenal and Liverpool? Gonzalo has a contract with Napoli for five seasons so he’s an Azzurro player.

“But I must say that no representatives from either club have contacted me. Shortly before he arrived in Naples, I was in contact with Arsenal,” he told Radio CRC.

Last week, Daily Express had reported that Liverpool were willing to spend £31.2m on the Argentine international. Mario Balotelli’s poor form and the injury to Daniel Sturridge has left them without a proven goalscorer upfront; a massive problem for the Reds considering their poor defensive record so far. Last season, Liverpool had the quality of Luis Suarez and Sturridge upfront who combined and scored more than half the goals for the side. This season however, the movement upfront has been poor, which has affected the play in the final third of the pitch.

Higuain is known for his movement and finishing ability, exactly what Liverpool need. A transfer cannot be ruled out just yet as a fee of £31.2m will definitely test Napoli’s resolve.

Higuain has scored a total of 30 goals in 59 appearances for the club since joining them in 2013 from Real Madrid. He was an Arsenal target back then but decided to move to Napoli instead.

This Is Shocking! Liverpool Set To Replace Balotelli With £31.2m Worth Former Arsenal Target

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has grown tired of new summer signing Mario Balotelli and is set to replace him with Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain in the January transfer window.

According to the Daily Express, the Reds have launched a £31.2m bid  that puts them in prime position to sign the former Real Madrid man.

Higuain has grown disillusioned at Naples according to the Italian reports and a move might soon be on the cards. The 26-year old has a decent goalscoring record in the Serie A but is edging for a move after refusing to comment on his future.

Liverpool have had problems this season as thier summer signing Mario Balotelli hasn’t impressed. The striker’s movement coupled with his poor finishing have hurt Liverpool so far. He was taken off after halftime in yesterday’s clash against Real Madrid after another disappointing outing. Liverpool do have other options in the form of Rickie Lambert and Fabio Borini, but the both of them haven’t impressed either when given the chance. 24-year old Daniel Sturridge is the only player who looks like he can cause problems, but his injury record isn’t the best.

Since making the switch to Napoli from Real Madrid, El Papita has scored 27 times in 57 appearances for the club. However, like Balotelli for Liverpool, he has struggled to find the net in Serie so far as he is yet to open his account after having played 7 games for Napoli this season. Liverpool fans will not want another striker who is struggling in front of goal, but they will definitely prefer someone who is contributing more to the team than current striker Mario Balotelli who has been below average until now.

Liverpool were facing competition from Arsenal for the striker, but at the moment it definitely looks like Anfield will be the destination for the Argentina international come January.

REPORT: Liverpool To Make This £30m Arsenal Target As Their Second Costliest Transfer Ever

Liverpool are looking at a possible bid for Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain. The rumored bid is close to £30m which will make him the second costliest Liverpool striker after Andy Carroll.

Brendan Rodgers is set to break the bank for the 26-year old after a slow start to the season that has seen Liverpool struggle to break down defences. Mario Balotelli hasn’t had the impact that most fans imagined and has just one goal in six appearance so far this season. Daniel Sturridge, one half of last season’s famous SAS partnership, has struggled with injury so far. Liverpool’s remaining two strikers Fabio Borini and Rickie Lambert have failed to provide any sort of support to the already out of form main strikers.

The signing of too many new players has ruined Liverpool’s cohesiveness that was visible last season and the money invested by the sale of Luis Suarez is yet to pay dividends. Higuain, who was signed by Napoli from Real Madrid for close to £32m, is reportedly unsettled in Italy and might make the switch if the right opportunity arises. It is also believed that Napoli are lining up Colombian Jackson Martinez as his potential replacement.

Liverpool are not the only Premier League club interested in signing the Argentine international as rivals Arsenal have rekindled their interest in the striker. Arsenal were close to signing him a season ago but he snubbed them and decided to make the switch to Italy instead. Both Arsenal and Liverpool will suit the Argentinian’s style of play as he relies on movement and his brilliant finishing ability.

The former Real Madrid striker has had a good career so far but was under-appreciated by the Bernabeu hierarchy. He was sold to Napoli an year ago despite scoring 18 goals in that season. Higuain’s debut season in Italy was a productive one as he scored 24 goals and provided 12 assists in 46 games, a goals to games ratio of more than half.
