Sebastian Polter to be Punished for Angry Tweet

sebastian polter

Disciplinary action will take place for Queens Park Rangers, as their summer signing, Sebastian Polter deleted an angry tweet when he wasn’t named in the match squad against Sheffield Wednesday.

The 24-year-old came to Loftus Road after a spell with Mainz 05 where he scored 14 goals in 29 games. Polter has been in the papers recently, admitting that he hasn’t been able to take to the English game right away because of the “style of play”. Whether the game is too fast or too physical, Polter didn’t go into great detail, but one can imagine he hasn’t made the transition that he was expected to make when the move was made during the transfer window.

The penalty for Polter’s tweet has yet to be determined by the club, though it would be assumed a hefty fine would be tossed his way within the next couple of weeks, possibly days. Rangers boss, Chris Ramsey admitted his disappointment to the press after the penalty was announced:

“I’m disappointed that he’s tweeted and, having spoken to the players, we’re all in it together and I think they probably share that disappointment,” Ramsey said.
“It’s an internal thing. We have a social-media policy at the club and it will be dealt with internally.”

In this day and age where social media has become a staple point for voices and opinions, many clubs (if not all) now have a social-media policy. Why Polter thought it was a good idea to voice his disapproval on Twitter is anyone’s guess. All we know is that a penalty is coming and if he wants to find a place on the first team (or even the bench), Polter needs to start concentrating on adapting his football. It will be interesting to see; however, if Polter’s tweet happened to work the manager over for the next match. Will he make the bench or even start when Rangers play MK Dons on Saturday? QPR currently sit 10th in the Sky Bet Championship.

“Phil Jones Taking A Corner Kick. Seriously?” Twitter Reactions After Manchester United’s Win At Loftus Road

After a defeat to top 4 rivals Southampton at home last weekend, Manchester United bounced back to winning ways as they registered their first league win in 2015 courtesy a 0-2 win over QPR with goals from Maruone Fellaini and James Wilson. After a below par first half, Van Gaal ditched his favourite 3-5-2 formation and changed to 4-4-2 which saw United flourish. Initially, the Dutch deployed winger Angel di Maria to play upfront with Radamel Falcao with Rooney playing a bit deeper.

Belgian midfielder Fellaini replaced Juan Mata in the half-time and he responded with a 58th minute with a goal that gave the Red Devils a much needed 0-1 lead. English striker Charlie Austin was saved twice by David de Gea before substitute James Wilson put the visitors 0-2 ahead with a goal in the stoppage time. But United’s best player on the pitch was Argentine defender Marcos Rojo. Falcao was handed a start by the Dutchman but he failed to get his name on the score sheet as Robert Green saved two shots which could have been Falcao’s goals. Here are some of the tweets regarding the match.

Finally they registered a win this year.

Maruone Fellaini’s goal gave Manchester United the lead.

Gary Wilson’s late strike sealed it for Manchester United.

Phil Jones taking a corner kick. Seriously?

Fellaini’s celebration revealed.

4-4-2 ahead of 3-5-2. Will Van Gaal change his philosophy?

Even the fans want 4-4-2.

Still the Falcao debate continues. Few want him at Old Trafford.

Manchester United Player Ratings vs QPR – Magical Di Maria Sinks The Londoners

It was a game that every Manchester United fan was craving since the arrival of Louis Van Gaal, and they weren’t disappointed! Manchester United cruised past hapless QPR who have suffered consecutive 4-0 defeats away from home. United started the game with purpose as Van Gaal handed home debuts to Daley Blind, Marcos Rojo and Angel Di Maria. While Blind and Rojo weren’t tested enough by a non-existent QPR attack, Di Maria had an outstanding game. Here are the player ratings for Manchester United who ran out 4-0 winners.

Manchester United Player Ratings vs QPR

David De Gea: 6/10

The Spaniard had almost nothing to do in the game but had a shaky moment which could have led to the equalizer. There won’t be too many games like the one against QPR as sterner challenges await.

Rafael: 7/10

There were rumours that the right back was surplus to requirements before the season started, but the Brazilian proved everyone wrong and had a good display. He joined in the attack often and acted as an outlet on the right hand side and was comfortable in defence against the pacey Junior Hoilett.

Jonny Evans: 6.5/10

The center back had a good game and was instrumental in denying QPR an equalizer as he blocked Phillips’ effort on goal. The change from 3 at the back to a more traditional 4 at the back helped the defender massively as he struggled in previous games.

Tyler Blackett: 6/10

The youngster too benefited from the 4 at the back system and put in a good shift. He switched off at the end which could have handed QPR a consolation, but Vargas fluffed his lines.

Marcos Rojo: 6.5/10

The Argentinian did everything he had to do except for a momentary confusion with De Gea that could have been disastrous. He provided an attacking threat but was rarely tested in defence.

Daley Blind: 7.5/10

The Dutchman was immaculate in his positioning and passing and completed 112 passes; highest in the team. He acted as a point of contact between the defence and attack as well as the defensive cover in front of the back four. Like the defence, he did not have to do much against a blunt QPR attack.

Ander Herrera: 8/10

His role was more of a free one with Blind operating as the holding midfielder. Herrera’s work rate was superb and he ended the game with a goal and an assist after teeing up Wayne Rooney.

Juan Mata: 7.5/10

Mata was deployed behind the duo of Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie. The former Chelsea man’s link up play was good to watch and he often found himself inside the penalty area. Mata scored the fourth goal for United and should have finished his first half effort.

Angel Di Maria: 8.5/10 (MOTM)

United’s costliest signing justified his price tag after he put an impeccable display in front of the Manchester United faithful. Di Maria starred in the friendly against Germany last week and put in a similar shift against QPR as his pace, passing and trickery was a sight to behold. The Argentinian was involved in all the goals and opened the scoring. Even a wayward shot turn into an assist, such was his dominance!

Wayne Rooney: 8/10

The Captain hasn’t had the best of days since taking over the armband, but all that changed against QPR. Rooney was full of energy and laid of the ball beautifully for Herrera’s goal before finding the net himself.

Robin Van Persie: 6/10

Van Persie had a disappointing game and was lethargic at times. There are doubts if he is 100% match fit or not as he hasn’t lasted for the full 90 minutes even once till now.

Manchester United: How Will They Line Up Against QPR – Tactical Analysis

Deadline – day madness ensued at Manchester United, as they signed Daley Blind and in a surprise move, Radamel Falcao on loan. They sold Danny Welbeck and gave Tom Cleverley on loan, as they looked to trade good players for better players. United need to get their season off to a start, after faltering on the starting blocks. United were given a more lenient start by the computer allotting the fixtures, as they supposedly had six easy games to start with. Three games in, United are still winless, and they will look to change that in their game against QPR.

Against QPR today, there will be the emotional return of Rio Ferdinand to Old Trafford. Rio felt shortchanged with his departure after 12 years at the club, as he didn’t get a chance to bid goodbye to the fans who loved him. This game will also give him a chance to show that he is still good enough to play at the top level and prove his detractors wrong, as he might have to take on Radamel Falcao, for which he will have to be at his best. Of he fails, he might draw some flak, as QPR have stuttered, and will want to get their campaign up-and-running immediately. A rock-solid defence will be the way forward, as United’s relatively inexperienced defence will need teething time.

United have six new recruits, and at least 5 of them will start against QPR. United have three relatively easy fixtures to go, and they will want to win all of them. Louis van Gaal will have to change his favoured 3-5-2 formation to a formation with 4 defenders at the back, as the wing-back system does not work very well in the Premier League. Liverpool also experimented with a 3-5-2 formation once last season, but the experiment was soon shelved in favour of a 3-4-3 formation, which reduced the pressure on the wing-backs, as their defensive role was emphasised, with the wingers ahead to attack. United now have the players to fit into a 3-4-3 formation, having acquired Angel di Maria.

United’s 3-5-2 system has looked at all sea in their earlier matches, as the defence is still tender and had off-days. Tyler Blackett has impressed, but the lacklustre form of his partners has hurt United. United haven’t had a formidable midfield presence, with Ander Herrera getting injured just as he was settling down. The addition of Daley Blind to the team is impressive, considering he can play a variety of roles at United. Marcos Rojo can play as well, and could lead United’s defence, with his confident tackling, something that has been missing earlier. Luke Shaw might take time before he can drift into United’s first-team, but a change to 3-4-3 could reduce the pressure on the players on the flanks, enabling Shaw/Rojo to play the wing-back role with Young/Mata playing on the left wing. Mata has played on the wing at Valencia, but has not been very effective on the wing in the Premier League. Likewise, on the right, Valencia/Rafael could play in the wing-back role, with Di Maria/Januzaj playing the advancing role. Blind/Carrick and Herrera could play in the centre of midfield, with Blind also capable of playing at centre-back.

United could also go back to the tried-and-tested 4-2-3-1, with Rafael/Valencia at right-back, Shaw/Blind at left-back, Rojo/Jones/Smalling/Evans/Blackett/Keane in the centre, with Blind/Herrera/Carrick/Fletcher in defensive midfield. The advancing midfield roles could be played by Mata/Rooney/Di Maria/Januzaj/Young and Falcao/van Persie could be the lone striker.

Van Gaal has many options, but the 4-2-3-1 formation has worked in the League for a number of teams. Even if it means that van Gaal has to turn back on his experiment of 3-5-2, the players benefit, as they are best suited to a 4-2-3-1 formation. This formation can accommodate their players perfectly, and could be used by van Gaal to get the best out of his players in the short-term, as the heavy spending has increased the pressure on van Gaal, and mistakes will lead to his sacking.

Manchester United Injury Update Ahead Of QPR Clash: Defender Set To Miss The Game

Manchester United have received a fresh injury blow ahead of their clash against QPR as defender Phil Jones will have a scan to determine the extent of damage suffered to his hamstring.

The 22-year old lasted for 77 minutes before being replaced by Phil Jagielka in the Euro 2016 qualifier against Switzerland on Monday that England won 2-0. The defender suffered from the injury and played on for a while which could have aggravated the injury. Marcos Rojo could take his place if he fails to prove his fitness for the game on Sunday after the Argentinian finally received his work permit.

Manager Louis Van Gaal has spent a lot of money this season on attacking talent and the injury to Jones could stretch their defence even though it’s not a long term one. Luke Shaw, who suffered from the same injury before the season started, could return against QPR  and Ander Herrera might feature too after returning to full training. The addition of Daley Blind might help Van Gaal as the Dutchman is very versatile and can be deployed either as a full back, center back or a holding midfielder.

Van Gaal has had a bad start to his managerial career at United and there is a little bit of edginess amongst the fans as their team is yet to win a single game this season. The defence has looked shaky adapting to the 3-5-2 system and were ripped apart by League 1 side MK Dons.

It’s very likely that Jones will miss the next home game as a precaution. As revealed earlier, midfielder Ander Herrera could feature against the London club as the Spaniard revealed on twitter, “Training hard and looking forward to this next game at Old Trafford!”

The second home game against QPR could act as an ideal base for the new signings to finally fire and show vindicate the investments made in them.

Arsenal Plot shock move for midfielder, Deal Likely

In a bid to revamp the central defensive midfield options in his squad, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has been sensationally linked to former QPR player Stephane Mbia according to the METRO. The Cameroonian endured a miserable debut season with QPR before spending the last season on loan to Spanish side Sevilla, helping the Andalusian club to win the Europa League beating Portuguese giants Benfice in the final. Mbia featured in 30 games for Sevilla last season scoring five goals in all competitions.

With Mikel Arteta and Mathieu  Flamini both above 30 and well past their prime, Wenger is desperate to sign a central defensive midfielder who would screen the back four and break down opposition attacks. The Gunners have been very much interested in sami khedira but no concrete offers have been tabled by the London club to the Galacticos. Thus Wenger wants to fill the gap quickly offering Mbia an escape route to rebuild his career at the Emirates.

It is reported that Mbia has asked for £60,000-a-week and Wenger believes he can get good value from the free agent if he signs the player before the transfer window slams shut.

The fact that the Cameroon international can play in a defensive midfield role as well as filling in at centre-back has caught the eye of Wenger, the Frenchman who needs reinforcements in both those positions in his already impressive squad as he looks to mount a realistic title challenge with the club. Mbia a fantastic tackler who can break down opposition attacks and would certainly  be an upgrade on both Arteta and Flamini.

DAILY STAR however claim that Newcastle, West Ham and Crystal Palace are also interested in Mbia, who has also played earlier French sides Reinnes and Marseille. Sources from Italy have also claimed that Napoli manager Rafa Benitez is also interested in the player.

The report also claims that Wenger is looking to bring in former Chelsea star Solomon Kalou who now plies his trade for French side Lille. Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is also interested in the player, while Galatasaray and Fenerbahce are also looking for a swoop for the 29-year-old striker.
