Manchester United Player Ratings vs QPR – Magical Di Maria Sinks The Londoners

It was a game that every Manchester United fan was craving since the arrival of Louis Van Gaal, and they weren’t disappointed! Manchester United cruised past hapless QPR who have suffered consecutive 4-0 defeats away from home. United started the game with purpose as Van Gaal handed home debuts to Daley Blind, Marcos Rojo and Angel Di Maria. While Blind and Rojo weren’t tested enough by a non-existent QPR attack, Di Maria had an outstanding game. Here are the player ratings for Manchester United who ran out 4-0 winners.

Manchester United Player Ratings vs QPR

David De Gea: 6/10

The Spaniard had almost nothing to do in the game but had a shaky moment which could have led to the equalizer. There won’t be too many games like the one against QPR as sterner challenges await.

Rafael: 7/10

There were rumours that the right back was surplus to requirements before the season started, but the Brazilian proved everyone wrong and had a good display. He joined in the attack often and acted as an outlet on the right hand side and was comfortable in defence against the pacey Junior Hoilett.

Jonny Evans: 6.5/10

The center back had a good game and was instrumental in denying QPR an equalizer as he blocked Phillips’ effort on goal. The change from 3 at the back to a more traditional 4 at the back helped the defender massively as he struggled in previous games.

Tyler Blackett: 6/10

The youngster too benefited from the 4 at the back system and put in a good shift. He switched off at the end which could have handed QPR a consolation, but Vargas fluffed his lines.

Marcos Rojo: 6.5/10

The Argentinian did everything he had to do except for a momentary confusion with De Gea that could have been disastrous. He provided an attacking threat but was rarely tested in defence.

Daley Blind: 7.5/10

The Dutchman was immaculate in his positioning and passing and completed 112 passes; highest in the team. He acted as a point of contact between the defence and attack as well as the defensive cover in front of the back four. Like the defence, he did not have to do much against a blunt QPR attack.

Ander Herrera: 8/10

His role was more of a free one with Blind operating as the holding midfielder. Herrera’s work rate was superb and he ended the game with a goal and an assist after teeing up Wayne Rooney.

Juan Mata: 7.5/10

Mata was deployed behind the duo of Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie. The former Chelsea man’s link up play was good to watch and he often found himself inside the penalty area. Mata scored the fourth goal for United and should have finished his first half effort.

Angel Di Maria: 8.5/10 (MOTM)

United’s costliest signing justified his price tag after he put an impeccable display in front of the Manchester United faithful. Di Maria starred in the friendly against Germany last week and put in a similar shift against QPR as his pace, passing and trickery was a sight to behold. The Argentinian was involved in all the goals and opened the scoring. Even a wayward shot turn into an assist, such was his dominance!

Wayne Rooney: 8/10

The Captain hasn’t had the best of days since taking over the armband, but all that changed against QPR. Rooney was full of energy and laid of the ball beautifully for Herrera’s goal before finding the net himself.

Robin Van Persie: 6/10

Van Persie had a disappointing game and was lethargic at times. There are doubts if he is 100% match fit or not as he hasn’t lasted for the full 90 minutes even once till now.
