Manchester United target set to complete transfer move?

Manchester United are set to be dealt a huge blow in their pursuit of Brazilian midfielder Lucas Silva, the player who is set to snub the Red Devils to join reigning European Champions Real Madrid. The 21 year old had also been linked with Arsenal after his impressive outings with Cruzerio but it now appears (according to reports from English Media Outlet Daily Star) that he is set for a move away to the Spanish capital from his home club.

Silva had been tracked by Real over the past few months as manager Carlo Ancelotti had used his good friend and former AC Milan player Serginho to keep a close eye on him. Silva plays in a central defensive midfielder role who is adept to break down the opposition attacks. Arsenal and United would have done well to get the player on the cheap as they are in dire need of a player who can screen the back four and build momentum in attacks.

Silva who fits the bill perfectly said in an interview with SporTV, “I don’t know what they are going to propose, whether they want me in the middle of the season or at the end and I stay for the Copa Libertadores. I still don’t know what will happen, but it would be interesting to stay for the Libertadores and then join up with the rest of the players for pre-season. Negotiations are still open but if they do take shape it will be dream to play for Madrid.”

Silva’s arrival at Bernabeu however could spell the end of German World Cup winner Sami Khedira who has also been linked with Arsenal and United. There was a lot of speculations over Khedira’s move to the Premier League in the summer but despite a refusal of higher wages, the midfielder stayed put at Madrid.

€80 Superstar Talks About Chelsea Link

Bayern Munich midfielder Franck Ribery was a Chelsea transfer target way back in 2009 and according to the Daily Express, they were willing to fork out €80m for him.

At the time, Bayern were somewhat struggling and were in a mini-turmoil as things weren’t going their way. Ribery was also in talks with Real Madrid for a potential move but ended up staying at the club as their new manager at the time, Louis Van Gaal, wanted him at the the Allianz Arena.

Reflecting on that situation, Ribery said, “I was on the verge of leaving, then had two, three conversations with (former general manager) Uli Hoeness and (chairman) Karl-Heinz Rummenigge. And they were really cool, I will never forget that.”

The Frenchman left Marseille for Bayern in 2007 for a hefty fee. He immediately found his feet at the club and managed to score an impressive 11 goals in 28 appearances for Bayern in the Bundesliga and helped them win the League by 10 points. His performances also won him the best player of that season, which vindicated the huge fee that Bayern paid for him. Back in 2009, transfer records were being created after Kaka and Cristiano Ronaldo moved to real for huge fees. Real Madrid were being linked with Ribery and even held talks with him but decided to go for Ronaldo instead and paid €94m for him.

Ribery is now a Bayer Munich legend and has lifted all the club accolades with them. He was close to winning the FIFA Ballon d’Or last season as he finished third; behind Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

He is now a Bayern Munich legend and is just one short of scoring 100 goals for the club. The 31-year old is contracted with the club until 2017 and could finish his career there if he keeps playing the way he is doing right now.

Manchester United Plot A Stunning Move For A Champions League Winner

In the last few days, reports have emerged that Manchester United are considering a stunning move for Carlo Ancelotti despite failing to lure him in the off-season after the last campaign.

United are willing to make Ancelotti the best paid manager on the planet as reported by  El Confidencial with a salary of €18m per year despite the Italian starting talks of extending his stay at the Spanish capital.

Ancelotti who guided Real Madrid to La decima last season told La Repubblica recently, “I hope to be in the history of Madrid not only for la Decima.

“Real is very well structured. The members elect the president every four years, and he becomes a tool of control. Here, there is no tycoon, but a formidable management team. Real want the best and, consequently, the game gets better.

“I hope to be a world champion with Real. The Club World Cup in Morocco is not going to be easy, because of the probable semi-final with Cruz Azul.”

Ancelotti did not reveal any interest of Manchester United, but it is believed that they are lining him up after Louis Van Gaal’s poor start in England as a manager. Marca revealed that they are still interested in bringing Ancelotti after realising that hiring Van Gaal was a mistake.

Ancelotti was sacked at Chelsea despite having a good spell at the club where he did the league double in his 1st season in charge after winning the League and the FA Cup. The sacking took place in the second season due to his side’s sudden loss in form and a disastrous run which ended with no trophies.

Van Gaal’s side have slowly started to gather momentum after a succession of victories which has put them in the top four. While rumours persist, it would be somewhat shocking if the Dutchman is sacked at the end of this season.

Good news for Manchester United as Dortmund star hints at a possible move to the Premier League

Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan has revealed that he wants to play outside Germany in the future with Spain or England being his preferred destinations.

Gundogan said, “Playing outside Germany is one of my big goals. If one day I leave here, I’d like to play in Spain or for one of the big teams in England.”

The Turkish-born central midfielder has been linked with a move to Manchester United in the past, but the move has failed to materialise mainly due to the German’s poor injury record in the last few seasons and Dortmund’s departure list. A plethora of star names have left Dortmund in the last few years so it was imperative that Jurgen Klopp held on to Gundogan. His injury put off potential buyers to some extent as he had been ruled out for the entirety of last season.

The 24-year old returned to action last month against Koln after having missed 15 months out due to a spine injury suffered in August last year. It will take him some time to get back to the high standards that he had set before his injury as it’s never easy to return from a long-term layoff.

With Dortmund struggling this season, there is a growing sense that there could be a mass exodus come January if they are in no position to challenge for a Champions League spot. In that case, the top European clubs will be waiting to pounce.

Real Madrid approached Gundogan in the past

The midfielder also said that his club rejected an offer from Real Madrid in the past, “Real Madrid made an offer for me but my club refused it.

“At the time I had two more seasons on my contract. But also, my injury wrecked everything. I couldn’t play for 14 months.”

“Now I want to look forward and make up for lost time with sporting success,” Gundogan added.

Report: Arsenal Tried To Sign Real Madrid Star Using Their German Connections

Arsenal have reportedly tried to sign Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira by virtue of the German players present at their club. A few days ago, ESPN had reported that Khedira’s international teammates Per Mertesacker and Mesut Ozil spoke to him on a potential move to Arsenal.

The 27-year old’s current contract expires in the summer and despite him wanting to stay at the club, contract negotiations are yet to reach the final stage which have alerted a few clubs. The former Stuttgart man had recently revealed, “As of now, I see no reason to leave the club in the winter.

“Real Madrid are a great destination, and I have locked this club in my heart. There are no grounds for me to say that I want or that I have to leave.”

Khedira will come cheap in January if he goes on without signing a new deal until then. His international teammate Mertesacker recently told in a Q&A session that he tried to speak with Khedira about a possible move, “I’m up for more quality Germans joining the club.

“[Mesut] Ozil and I spoke to Khedira a few times about joining Arsenal. His contract is up next summer.”

Khedira recently returned to the Real Madrid side after a surgery on his knee. Prior to that, a cruciate ligament injury during November last year ruled him out for more than five months. He did however appear for his national side in the World cup and picked up his winners’ medal.

Arsenal have struggled this season with and the defeat to Manchester United, they now have their lowest points tally in more than two decades at this stage. Arsene Wenger’s side dominated the game against United, but were unable to find the net or prevent their opponent’s counter-attacking moves that led to the goals. One reason being is the lack of a natural defensive midfielder. The North-Londoners have been susceptible to counter-attacks as their midfield isn’t well equipped to break the play. The addition of Khedira will definitely help in finding a solution to that problem.

Manchester United face Real Madrid competition for €35m World Cup star

According to reports from Spanish based Media Outlet Fichajes, Manchester United have been joined by Real Madrid and Barcelona in the race to sign Colombia’s World Cup star Juan Cuadrado from Fiorentina. The 26 year old who was United’s top priority target, after long speculations signed a contract extension with the Florence based side but the right winger recently gave vent to his frustrations. The youngster reportedly has a €35m transfer release clause which is set to kick in the January transfer window. Thus the winger could be available to any club who bids the price quoted.

Cuadrado would suit the Red Devils’ bill perfectly in the upcoming winter transfer window. Louis Van Gaal is believed to be a huge admirer of he Colombian and could plot a move yet again for the player in January. Moreover, Cuadrado is capable of playing also in the right back role, something which would be a huge upgrade over Rafael, the Brazilian who is frequently injury prone.

It is believed that Real would also jump at the bandwagon to sign the player given Alvaro Arbeloa’s future in the Spanish capital is in jeopardy. Moreover, Barcelona also have a transfer window ban as directed by FIFA, so the Catalan side’s interest might be insignificant.

United have a sizeable transfer kitty which they can use in January as they target a top four place this season as they look to secure Champions League football for next season. Cuadrado has great potential and is immensely pacy and a great dribbler who comes with great passing ability. Fiorentina had also been resigned to the fact that they could lose their prized asset but it will be interesting to see where Cuadrado ends up in January. Or will he stay put at Florence?

Manchester United can complete brilliant transfer taking some help from Chelsea

Ok, so try not to laugh over this. English Mirror are up at it once again. This time its the MIRROR who have claimed that Manchester United can buy Gareth Bale if Chelsea sell Eden Hazard to Real Madrid. Okay, so let that sink in. Its unbelievable that in the major part of the article that they have covered the story, its actually about other news rather than Bale to United or Hazard to Madrid. they finally point out that the Welsh winger has been linked with a move to Old Trafford since the summer after it developed that a Cristiano Ronaldo return to Old Trafford is unlikely. Bale has insisted that he is happy at the Bernabeu and does not want to move. Moreover Eden hazard is also a long-term target for Madrid but only if sanity prevails, Chelsea will surely not want to sell their prized asset.

Okay, let us clarify some key things here. Its shambolic from the Mirror to manufacture the non existent transfer rumours which are created just to deceive readers. Why would Bale even in fact want to join United now after having just moved to the Spanish capital. Moreover, it is believed that Ryan Giggs is being labelled as a chief ingredient to lure Bale to Old Trafford. So why the Welshman didn’t move to United when he was linked long before joining Real?

Also Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho would be a fool to sell Hazard and why would Real even want him in place of Ronaldo who seems settled at Bernabeu. Hazard has been an integral part of the Chelsea side who look to challenge for honours at Stamford Bridge. Moreover, the Belgian was linked to PSG in the summer and didn’t move saying he is happy at London

Liverpool Player Ratings vs Real Madrid – Brave Show From The Reds

Simon Mignolet – 7.5/10

The Belgian shot-stopper produced his best performance of the season, making several fine saves and showing a noticeable improvement in his decision-making. Gradually looking more assured with a certain somebody ahead of him leading the defence, Reds fans will be hopeful that this is the start of a resurgence from the 26-year-old.

Javier Manquillo – 7/10

The Madrid-born youngster was solid at the back considering he had to deal with the marauding Marcelo and tricky Isco. The Spanish full-back got forward well too.

Martin Skrtel – 6/10

The Slovakian was one of Liverpool’s weaker players on the night, committing too many silly errors and almost handing Real Madrid with a goal at the start of the game with a sloppy loss of possession in the first-half.

Kolo Toure – 8.5/10

A performance by the 33-year-old reminiscent of his best days in the colours of Arsenal. The Ivorian made endless blocks and clearances, dominating opponents aerially and showing great leadership making others look better with him around them and producing his finest moment in a Reds shirt to date.

Alberto Moreno – 7.5/10

The explosive Spaniard may be at fault for being a tad too naive in possession at times, trying risky things in dangerous areas; but against Madrid at the Bernebeu he got forward brilliantly from start to finish and produced some excellent defending.

Lucas Leiva – 8/10

The 27-year-old Brazilian was superb in defensive midfield, producing his best performance in a very long time. Positional play was terrific and he used the ball well; looking more like the Lucas of two years ago.

Emre Can – 7.5/10

The 20-year-old German powerhouse continued to show his huge potential. Playing fearlessly with confidence and dynamism in the middle of the park, Can could become a star at Anfield.

Joe Allen – 6/10

The Welshman’s work-rate could not be faulted but when in possession, his use of the ball was disappointing. Needs to be more ambitious and start taking a few more risks.

Adam Lallana – 7/10

The former Southampton skipper struggled to get into the game from out wide but as and when he did receive the ball he looked tricky and inventive. One of his side’s more dangerous players on the night.

Lazar Markovic – 6/10

The young Serb continues to struggle in a Red shirt, although his pace offered Liverpool a way out, he couldn’t do much when he had a chance to run at the Madrid defence. Things just not clicking at the moment for the 20 year old.

Fabio Borini – 6.5/10

The other Italian at Liverpool worked tirelessly up front from the start, and held up play as much as he could. He was quite visibly isolated upfront and couldn’t do much to affect proceedings.
