Wanted: New Lewes FC Manager to halt drastic slide

Kim Grant had a spell in charge of Conference Premier League club Woking a few years ago and has since been working with FC Takoradi, a new club in his home country of Ghana. With a CV brimming with European contacts from his time scouting with West Brom, Grant has a wealth of experience that you would imagine ticks all the boxes for a manager in the lower league.

Grant played for Yeovil, Scunthorpe, Millwall and Luton amongst others during a long and successful playing career, as well as spells in Portugal and Singapore.

Lewes are looking a new manager in a bid to save the club from free-fall after a second relegation in three years. The club has had numerous years of turmoil, facing several winding up orders and threats of closure. This hasn’t deterred Grant from applying for the post though and he told me that he believes his network of professionals could reinvigerate the club: “I want to start low, and really get to grips with things. It’s better for my learning process.

“I need to prepare for quality young players to get them back straigh away if I get the job. I know a lot of players out of contract which is perfect because I can build my own team and style or play.

“I know some really good foreign players who could add some flair and get the team playing how I want them to.

“I am waiting to hear if I have an interview, so hopefully I will hear this week” Grant added.

In Grant, Lewes could do a lot worse than appointing the Ghanaian who is keen to see the club turn around its fortunes. With a clear eye for a quality player, Lewes could halt their slide and adopt a new brand of football at The Dripping Pan.

Lewes’ website reports that they are currently shifting through 25 applications for the post and that a decision will be announced shortly, but until then it’s a standard waiting game for an excited Grant.
