Former Manchester United Manager Could Land New Job In Italy

Former Manchester United manager David Moyes is being linked with the managerial position at Inter Milan after being spotted in Italy a few times in the last month or so. Moyes, who was sacked in April this year has apparently rejected 7 jobs so far according to reports. The Scotsman had revealed in June that he was disappointed with the lack of time given to him at United. He lasted just over 9 months at United and managed the club for 51 matches.

Inter’s current manager Walter Mazzarri is under severe pressure after another disappointing start to the season by the Nerazzurri who are languishing in the 9th position in Serie A after having picked up only 9 points in 7 games. Despite rebuilding most of the team last season and the beginning of this season, the former Napoli manager has failed to convince the board and the fans that the club will progress under him. Disappointing performances and results have often caused groans in the San Siro this season and he might have very little time to salvage something.

Disagreements inside the club haven’t helped either as Erick Thohir, a majority shareholder at the club, wants to rebuild the whole club based on the Premier League style. Experienced players like Esteban Cambiasso, Ivan Cordoba, Diego Milito and Walter Samuel were sold after the new owners took over which led to major disagreements between Thohir and Inter President Massimo Moratti which led to Moratti’s resignation recently after a 19-year association with the club.

According to Sky Italia, Moyes could be on Inter’s shortlist if at all they decide to get rid of Mazzarri in the near future. Moyes could suit the club as they still need some rebuilding to be done. The 51-year old did a brilliant job at Everton before replacing Alex Ferguson at Manchester United.

Report: Manchester United Eye £12m Star To Fix Defensive Woes In January

Manchester United have identified Zenit and Argentinian center back Ezequiel Garay as a potential January signing. According to British tabloid Mirror, United sent two scouts to watch the 28-year old in action against Bayer Leverkusen on Wednesday’s Champions League encounter.

Garay joined the Russian side last summer and signed a contract that runs till 2019, however, this hasn’t detracted United who were linked with a move for Garay before he signed for Zenit. Manager Louis Van Gaal wants to sign a center back in January and it’s probably the only area that needs immediate addressing. United have been really shaky at the back and have conceded 12 goals in 8 games so far. Their defence struggled to cope with the 3-5-2 system employed by Van Gaal earlier in the season which led to the Dutchman reverting to a more natural four at the back system. Despite the change, new summer signings Luke Shaw and Marcos Rojo are yet to shine for the team.

On the other hand, those who were already at the club have failed to impress the new manager. The likes of Phil Jones, Jonny Evans and Rafael have made key mistakes that have cost the club in certain games. The addition of Garay will add a sense of leadership and quality to the backline as the Argentina international has plenty of experience and pedigree of playing in big leagues. Garay could favor a move to Old Trafford if the opportunity came as he would form a partnership with his Argentine teammate Rojo in the defence.

United and Van Gaal will however have to fork out a fee larger than £12m that Zenit paid for his services. He still has more than 4 years remaining on his contract and joined recently, so it’ll take some convincing for Zenit part ways with him. United have been linked with the likes of Mats Hummels, Gerard Pique and Angelo Ogbonna in the recent weeks.

Liverpool Consider Milan Right Back To Replace Glen Johnson

Liverpool are looking at the possibility of signing Milan right back Ignazio Abate as the replacement for Glen Johnson. Johnson is yet to be offered a new contract by Liverpool and will be a free agent next summer as his current contract runs out in June 2015.

Liverpool signed Atletico Madrid right back Javier Manquillo on a 2-year loan period and have the option of buying him on a permanent deal. The move signalled the end of Johnson’s career at Liverpool as he hasn’t been performing well for the side. The 30-year old is a high earner at the club with wages of £100,000-a-week since joining from Portsmouth in 2009 for £17.5m. According to reports, the England international was linked with a move to Juventus in Serie A.

Milan’s Ignazio Abate is in a similar situation as his contract runs out in the next summer as well. As reported by the Mirror, Abate failed to agree a new contract at Milan and could be sold for a low fee in the winter transfer window as Milan will not want to lose him for nothing after his contract expires in June.

Abate has been at Milan since 2003, but had loan spells with five different clubs before settling in 2009. Since then, he has been a regular at the right back position. The Italian is a hard tackling full back who loves driving forward, just like Johnson. The Italian international is arguably a better defender than Johnson; a fact that could work against Johnson’s favour.

He recently revealed that if given the option he will stay in Milan but at the same time he won’t rule out a move,

“My priority is Milan. I want to stay here and finish my career. I couldn’t see myself in another shirt, at least not in Italy. At most I’d go abroad.

“I’ll stay here as long as I can. This is my home, although I know in football you can always be moved on.

“But the time to say goodbye hasn’t come. I still get excited when I walk into Milanello,” he told Gazzetta dello Sport.

Double Blow For Manchester United: After Pogba, They Are Set To Lose Out On Fiorentina Star Too

Former Manchester United player Paul Pogba has signed a new contract with Juventus that will keep at the club until 2019, thus ending Chelsea’s and former employers United’s interest in him. Pogba, who went to Juve on a free transfer in 2012, signed a new five-year contract that will give him close to £70,000-a-week (three times his previous wages of £23,000-a-week).

Juve’s director general Giuseppe Marotta said, “We have just signed Paul Pogba’s renewal until 2019.”

The move will come as a blow for United who were trying to re-sign the 21-year old. Chelsea too were linked with him, but will have to look elsewhere. After former Juventus manager Antonio Conte’s resignation, there were rumours that Pogba will move elsewhere to ply his trade, but quite clearly, the Frenchman wants to stay at the club.

Van Gaal set to lose out on Juan Cuadrado

Fiorentina winger Juan Cuadrado is also set to sign a new contract if he hasn’t signed it already. According to Football-Italia, Cuadrado has already signed a contract extension at the club. He revealed his happiness on twitter last evening after having signed a new contract which was translated by the Italian website.

It read, “I’m happy for the renewal.

“I thank my agent Alessandro Lucci, the Della Valle family, the club as a whole and in particular the President Cognini for his availability. Forza Viola!”

The report also revealed that the contract is runs till 2019 and has a release clause of  €35m. Cuadrado’s wages were increased as he’ll now earn around to €2.5m per year.

The news is yet to be officially announced by the club, but considering all the media attention, it’s only a matter of time.

Manchester United were hoping to sign the versatile Colombian possibly in January or in the summer, but will now have to cough up a significant fee  that will tempt the Italian club to sell.

Manchester United, Arsenal, and Tottenham scouts eye move for German winger

Bayer Leverkusen winger Karim Bellarabi could cause a bidding war in the summer transfer window as early reports indicate that close to six Premier League clubs are monitoring the 24-year old.

According to reports, the Germany international was being watched by  Manchester United, Arsenal, Tottenham, Manchester City and Newcastle United scouts in his side’s 2-0 win over Zenit in Wednesday’s Champions League encounter.

Bellarabi has been in impressive form this season after scoring 4 goals and assisting another 4 in his 8 Bundesliga appearances so far. His first goal came against Borussia Dortmund and was the fastest Bundesliga goal ever recorded (inside 9 seconds). Bellarabi has been a key player in new Leverkusen manager Roger Schmidt’s attacking policy of pressing from high up the pitch. His work rate coupled with his footballing skills are an asset to have in any team.

Bellarabi can play anywhere up front, but his natural position is that of a right winger. His versatility is another plus point to have in the Premier League. He made his national team debut recently in Germany’s 2-0 loss to Poland and played the full game.

At the moment, nothing can be deduced on which club is favourite to land the winger as they just started scouting him. Another key factor is Bellarabi’s interest in moving abroad. He recently nailed down a starting spot in the Leverkusen team after the decided to sell Sidney Sam in the summer. Bellarabi contracted until 206 and will consider his options at the end of the season if he has any offers in front of him.

He is the cheaper alternative to Marco Reus in some ways. Judging by Bayer Leverkusen’s style of play, Bellarabi will find it easy to play with Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City. However, one doubts whether he’ll move to Manchester as there is too much of attacking talent in both United and City’s squads.

LVG reveals free agent will train with Manchester United

Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal has revealed that former Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes will train with the club. Reports confirmed on Thursday that the 32-year old will train at the club which gave birth to rumours that Van Gaal could sign the free agent as a backup option to David De Gea. However, the Dutchman did not reveal directly that Valdes will be signed by United.

Van Gaal said, “For me it’s not a surprise because I have done it already with a lot of players.

“I have a relationship with a lot of players. I gave Ronald de Boer or Edgar Davids rehabilitation possibility or training possibility when they needed that, so he is one of these players.

“Robin van Persie, when he played for me in the Dutch squad last year, I allowed him to come to our medical department to get him fit for the World Cup. It’s the same.

“I wasn’t the manager of United at the time. So I have always done that, and not only with big players but ones you’ve never heard of.”

Valdes became a free agent in the summer after his contract with Barcelona came to an end. He was subsequently linked with a move to Liverpool, but as of now, there is no progress as he refused to undergo the proposed 4-day trial with the reds. French side Monaco were interested in signing the shot stopper but opted out after he ruptured his Cruciate Ligament in March this year.

Manchester United have Anders Lindegaard as De Gea’s back up at the moment. When asked about a potential move for Valdes, Van Gaal replied, “Manchester United always have their eyes open.”

Bayern Munich are also being linked with Valdes as German newspaper Die Welt revealed that Pep Guardiola wants to sign the goalkeeper.

This Is Shocking! Liverpool Set To Replace Balotelli With £31.2m Worth Former Arsenal Target

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has grown tired of new summer signing Mario Balotelli and is set to replace him with Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain in the January transfer window.

According to the Daily Express, the Reds have launched a £31.2m bid  that puts them in prime position to sign the former Real Madrid man.

Higuain has grown disillusioned at Naples according to the Italian reports and a move might soon be on the cards. The 26-year old has a decent goalscoring record in the Serie A but is edging for a move after refusing to comment on his future.

Liverpool have had problems this season as thier summer signing Mario Balotelli hasn’t impressed. The striker’s movement coupled with his poor finishing have hurt Liverpool so far. He was taken off after halftime in yesterday’s clash against Real Madrid after another disappointing outing. Liverpool do have other options in the form of Rickie Lambert and Fabio Borini, but the both of them haven’t impressed either when given the chance. 24-year old Daniel Sturridge is the only player who looks like he can cause problems, but his injury record isn’t the best.

Since making the switch to Napoli from Real Madrid, El Papita has scored 27 times in 57 appearances for the club. However, like Balotelli for Liverpool, he has struggled to find the net in Serie so far as he is yet to open his account after having played 7 games for Napoli this season. Liverpool fans will not want another striker who is struggling in front of goal, but they will definitely prefer someone who is contributing more to the team than current striker Mario Balotelli who has been below average until now.

Liverpool were facing competition from Arsenal for the striker, but at the moment it definitely looks like Anfield will be the destination for the Argentina international come January.

Massive Transfer Update For Manchester United As Real Madrid Linked Rubbished Of By Spanish International

Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea has revealed that he is happy at Old Trafford and said the reports linking him with a move to Real Madrid are just rumours. When asked about the subject of a potential move by Kicker, De Gea said, “Just rumours. I’m happy here.”

The 23-year old was being linked with a move to the Bernabeu after a string of impressive displays which began last season. De Gea had a difficult start to his career at Old Trafford but has silenced his critics after a season where he was probably the best player in a poor United team.

After joining United from Atletico Madrid, De Gea found it hard to cope in the Premier League. The Spaniard was only 20 back then so it was understandable that he had the burden of a massive fee on his shoulders. The physicality of the Premier League took it’s toll on De Gea as he would often make mistakes in set-pieces. Back then, manager Sir Alex Ferguson used to rotate the goalkeepers as Anders Lindegaard too got his chances because of De Gea’s shaky form.

However, the former Manchester United manager backed De Gea in his difficult periods for which the former Atletico man was thankful, “It was a difficult time but Sir Alex always backed me. He saved me from criticism and was patient until I was ripe for United.

“Today I’m thankful for that [the criticism]. That made me stronger. Goalkeeper is tricky position. Mistakes are human. It’s about being up to that. If you make mistakes you will have to improve. Now I’m better.”

Now, it’s hard for almost anyone to replace him between the sticks, such has been his form. De Gea also replaced Iker Casillas as the Spanish number 1 in his national team’s last fixture against Luxembourg, and could keep that spot in the upcoming games.

For Real Madrid, it’s not the end of the story as they can always come back with an offer that United and De Gea will not be able to refuse. The Galacticos wanted to sign him as a long term replacement to Iker Casillas whose form hasn’t been the best in the past few years.
