Last season was a positive one for Manchester United playmaker Shinji Kagawa. The Japan international may not have played as much as he would have perhaps liked, but he still rustled up 19 created chances and six goals in his 19 league appearances, and most of them were not full games. However, since the arrival of David Moyes, things haven’t gone so swimmingly.
Manchester United have a big, big couple of months ahead of them. If David Moyes doesn’t manage to break into the top four and clinch Champions League football then there will be plenty of frustrated natives up at Old Trafford and plenty more continuing to pick their performances apart. For me they had the chance to ensure of a top four finish last month in the transfer window, and although they signed Juan Mata, I think Ivan Rakitic should have been the number one target.
It may be a case of sour grapes, or even mind games ahead of the clash between the two clubs at the weekend, but Arsene Wenger has no regrets about not landing Luis Suarez according to the Guardian. Now, call me a sceptic, but I bet he’s reeling inside. How could he not be? The Uruguayan has been in remarkable form this season and I doubt there is a manager on the planet who wouldn’t welcome him into their side.
Arsenal will be top of the Premier League table going into this weekend and deservedly so. The Gunners have worked tremendously hard this season and have reaped the rewards of their high morale, something which seems to have been lacking since the great invincible back in what the Gooners will consider the good old days. There is still room for improvement though in my eyes and there is one man who could solve a couple of problems, I think.
According to reports from the Daily Mail, Paris Saint-Germain are preparing a summer bid of up to £40 million for Manchester United teen sensation Adnan Januzaj as Laurent Blanc continues putting together his megastar Ligue 1 side. The news is worrying for United fans, I would have thought, but I think if David Moyes is serious about rebuilding a side with his brand on it then he has to keep hold of the winger.
Arsene Wenger is going through a bit of a midfield crisis of late. Going into the clash with London rivals Crystal Palace last weekend the French manager was without Aaron Ramsey, Mathieu Flamini, Jack Wilshere or the long-term absentee Abou Diaby. It demanded a plan to be made by the coach as to who would partner Spain international Mikel Arteta, and he duly made an exquisite decision.
Although Sir Alex Ferguson changed the course of Manchester United’s history around during his 27-year-spell in charge at the club, not everything he did was a success.
While the January transfer window can rightly be seen as a frustrating one for Liverpool fans, they still have a squad capable of going on and claiming a top four place in my eyes.
